Welcome to Year Five.
Year Five is a place where we learn and learning is fun. The staff in Year Five are myself Miss Costello, Mrs Hartley and Mrs Rafiq. I have been at Saint Albans a long time (with lots of different hair colours). My hobbies are watching cricket and football, reading, and spending time with my charming puggle Charles. Mrs Hartley enjoys spending time in her impressive garden. Mrs Rafiq likes to keep up with current affairs and debates. She loves to go for walks through parks and the countryside and often takes a good novel with her, to sit in nature and read.
We are a responsible, co-operative learning community. We have agreed our rules .
Be ready
Be respectful
Be safe
We must arrive in school by 8:45am. We can bring to school a water bottle, reading book, homework, and a morning snack (piece of fruit), packed lunch. Precious items are best left at home where they are safe and secure. Reading for pleasure books can be brought on a Friday.
We have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On these days Year five come to school in their PE uniform- white t-shirt, blue shorts or joggers (black or grey) and school sweatshirt.
Homework will be set on see-saw on a Friday and can be completed anytime the following week. Should you require paper copies and a homework book, just let the staff know.
We pray together
Morning prayer
Oh my God I give to you. All I think and do. All my work and all my play. I will give to you today. Amen.
Before lunch prayer
Bless me God as we sit together. Bless the food we eat today. Bless the hands that made the food. Amen.
After lunch prayer
Thankyou for the food we have eaten. Thankyou God for all our friends. Thankyou God for everything. Thankyou God. Amen.
End of day prayer
Good night God we are going home. Thankyou for your love today. Thankyou for my family and all the friends you give to me. Guard me in the dark of night and in the morning send me your light. Amen.
It is a privilege for Mrs Hartley, Mrs Rafiq and myself to teach you and we know that this will be a successful year together. As our school prayer says in the Light of Jesus we love together, hope together and learn together. Stay with us Lord on our journey! (Diocesan prayer).
