PHONICS - LITTLE WANDLE

At St. Alban's, we have just adopted a new phonics scheme called Little Wandle.  There is a very informative parent's section if adults want to look at ways of helping children at home or understanding the work they do in school.  There is information on the sounds that your child will be learning, with some videos which explain about pronunciation.

Welcome to Year 1

Year 1 Class Teacher - Mr Sutton

Year 1 Teaching Assistant - Mrs Devine

Our amazing class is full of love, kindness and adventurous energy.

During this year we focus on phonics, reading, writing, mathematics and having lots of memorable experiences. We balance trying our best in all subjects along with having the most fun possible.

The children have learnt how to be good friends and make good choices in Reception. Now we continue the journey of life long happiness, whilst challenging ourselves daily and having a good time along the way.

Through various school trips, lots of outdoor learning and inspiring activities the children access a broad and balanced curriculum.

By giving each child a voice their confidence grows and open communication with parents and carers creates a strong relationship between home and school.

Year 1 is a family, we have ups and downs. We enjoy the ups and show determination when down. Plus we have yummy biscuits and stickers.
